As many of us know, starting a successful business is no easy task. I’m sure for many social media is your go to and that’s why i’m bringing you my 5 social media growth tips. From deciding what you want to specialise in, to finding the right clients, this takes time and experience. Throughout this journey, it’s easy to get lost in the sea of businesses and lose sight of your true self.
Finding clients and customers is the biggest challenge of entrepreneurship. When I first started, I struggled to secure clients for a fraction of what they line up to pay now. What changed? I got really clear on who Mango&Wild is, who I can help, and what will set my business apart from the others. The key to any business and strategy is always remembering to take it back to basics and get clear on:
Who you are?
Who do you help?
What you’re selling
If you’re not clear on your business’s journey or clear on your offering how will others know what you are offering? Your social media platform is your shop front. It is a place to sell your services and without a clear structure how can it support your business’s growth.
Here are 5 of my top social media growth tips to get you underway:
1. Your Values
Think about your values and what’s important to you, as well as the values of the people you are excited to work with. For example, I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and therefore attract clients who also enjoy eating right and taking care of themselves. I value spending time with my doggies, and many of my clients can relate to the relationship I have and how important they are. Perhaps you are a mum and value spending as much time as possible with your children. Is your ideal client similar? Think about how you can connect with them through your common values.
2. The Big One To Social Media Is Consistency Is Key⠀
Posting on your page 2-3 times each week is a lot better than 2 times one week, 5 times the next, 0 times the following, and so on. Consistency is crucial when it comes to social media. You want to be showing up each day, interacting with your target audience, promoting your offering and establishing yourself as an authority figure. Because if you’re not, someone else in your industry is!
My best advice for staying consistent…is make a plan. I love to sit down for about 20-30 minutes each Sunday and plan out my posts for the following week. There are lots of apps to help you with this like Planoly, and Preview. The key to social media like we say is consistency so find what will work for you. Find a plan that you can keep consistent at. 3. Target Your Audience Through Location Tags
Did you know that posts with location tags receive 78% more engagement than posts that don’t!
Out of my 5 social media growth tips this one is so easy and as you can see, effective! Geotags are just like hashtags. They increase your discoverability, meaning more potential clients can engage with your content and find your offering.
Not only can users click on location tags to see the posts connected to these tags, but your content may also end up on the explore pages. AND this is exactly why you should be geotagging on every single one of your posts. Also, don’t forget about your stories adding location tags to these also make you more discoverable.

This is another important factor to why you need to take it back to basics and get clear on who you are and who you are offering your services to.
4. Let’s Talk Hashtags ⠀
I get a lot of questions on ‘why use hashtags’, ‘where do I put them’, ‘how many should I use’. So, let’s simplify why you should be using hashtags and talk about the key points.
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 – Hashtags are a key tool for increasing brand awareness and engagement. A bit like geotags, hashtags are discoverable and searchable.
𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Hashtags support brand-building through creating your own bespoke hashtag or through promoting what your brand does by using hashtags that are relevant to your industry.
𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 – By having hashtags on your posts it allows your audience to find you when searching for specific tags and topics, so always ensure your hashtags are relevant to you and your target audience. How? If your audience is following the hashtag #socialmediamarketing, then whenever a new post gets uploaded with this hashtag, they will see this recent post in their news feed, meaning your band is showing up.
DID YOU KNOW YOU HAVE 30 HASHTAGS TO USE PER POST!
That’s right, for every post you can put 30 hashtags so get using if you’re not already. A tip I like to say is to create sets of 20 hashtags that are relevant to your offering so, for example, one set for services, one set for products and one set for generic. Then each time you create a post your hashtags will be relevant and backing up your reach and engagement on that offering.
5. My Biggest Tip Out Of My 5 Social Media Growth Tips
Always check your insights! This goes back to your plan if you have a strategy and business plan but are not monitoring or measuring it then how do you know if what you are doing is working? How do you know you are meeting your goals if you’re not looking?
Here’s what you should be checking…
- If you are looking to be an expert in your field, then you want to be monitoring your saves and shares. This will allow you to see that your content was informative and helpful to your audience and show your touching on their pain points.
- If you’re looking to increase engagement and build a community, you want to be monitoring your comments. This shows your followers are connected and engaged with your offering.
- If you’re looking for more sales be monitoring your website tap. Through this, you could mix up your link to specific landing pages to see what is gaining more interest. This will then give you a clear indication of what type of content sells and what your clients are interested in, what is their biggest pain point.
- If you’re looking to grow on your social media, then you want to be monitoring profile visits. However, if your profile visits are high but the growth in your following does not affect this, then people are looking and going away and this could indicate that there is something you could be doing better. Again, this goes back to basics on are you giving a clear message to your audience when they land on your social shop front?
- And lastly another great one to follow for if you’re looking to increase your brand awareness is shares. To increase your brand awareness, you need to get your content or profile in front of more people, and you can do this by getting others to share your content.
